Bollywood star Dia Mirza joins “Hi Mumbai”

TEHRAN – Bollywood star Dia Mirza has signed a contract to play a role in “Hi Mumbai”, an Iranian-Indian film project.

Mirza is supposed to star opposite Iranian superstar Mohammadreza Golzar, who joined the cast in July, the Persian service of ISNA reported on Saturday.

Bollywood film producer Pahlaj Nihalani and composer Dilshad Shaikh signed a deal with Iranian director Qorban Mohammadpur and producer Javad Noruzbeigi to produce “Hi Mumbai” in a visit to Iran in August.

Mirza was born in Hyderabad to a German father and a Bengali mother. She was second runner up in Miss India Beauty contest in 2000. She also won the Miss Asia Pacific in the same year in Manila, the Philippines.

The Indian actress made her cinematic debut with “Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein”. Her next successful movie was “Parineeta”. Her performance in “Lage Raho Munna Bhai” was acclaimed, in which Dia played the role of the daughter of Boman Irani.

Shooting of the film is scheduled to begin in November on location in Mumbai and later in Iran with a cast of Iranian and Bollywood actors.

Veteran make-up artist Abdollah Eskandari and stage designer Majid Mirfakhrai are collaborating in this project.
